Welcome to TESDA - KNAS' Official Website
The school started implementing the secondary vocational agricultural curriculum in the school year 1975-1976 in the Poblacion of Kinoguitan Misamis Oriental.
Without a single school building, the school rented residential vacant building for classrooms and administration office. The school also rented vacant area of land for actual implementation/hands-on of the agriculture subjects. To properly implement the vocational-agriculture curriculum, Mr. Cristeto R. Abrea the first school principal then sought for a vast space of land, by then KNAS was moved to a far place called Dumagondong in sitio Kagumahan, Kinoguitan Misamis Oriental in the school year 1977-1978. It was then in this place with a total land area of 219 hectares that the agriculture curriculum was properly implemented. The transfer of classes was done gradually and so with the teachers and staff.
With the vast area of land, KNAS started its agri projects, among which were –coffee, abaca and vegetable projects. Along with the projects in crops, the school also had established the swine, poultry (layer and broiler) and cattle projects. However, in 1983, the school was forced to vacate the place due to peace and order situation and classes were then temporarily held in barangay Ezperanza, Kinoguitan Misamis Oriental.
Determined to acquire another site that could be considered a permanent one, the school principal, Mr. Abrea again sought for a bigger site along the national highway connecting the cities of Cagayan de Oro and Butuan. It is 6.0 hectare of land located in Barangay Buko, Kinoguitan Misamis Oriental. Two hectares of which is utilized for administration and classroom buildings and the other 4.0 hectares for the school’s different agricultural projects.
By virtue of General Appropriations Act of 1997 KNAHS was transferred to TESDA from DECS and implemented through a MOA in 1998. On its implementation KNAS teachers and school properties were divided into two for the secondary (DECS) and with this is the turn-over of the 1.4 hectare of land for the proper operation of the secondary program under DECS now DepEd (Department of Education) Pursuant to the mandate of TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority), the school offers TVET programs which are duly registered under UTPRAS (Unified TVET Program Registration and Accreditation System).
The school envisions to be a model training institution in the First District of Misamis Oriental where people can acquire modern technology in areas relative to Agri-Fishery, Tourism, Construction and Metals & Engineering sectors. With this vision, the school administration has to re-structure its programs, upgrade its facilities, tools and equipment and formulate new programs that meet the demands of the industry. With these programs, KNAS would produce graduates qualified for local and global employment.
To cope with the aforementioned, the school addresses the following thrusts and concerns
Enrichment of curricular instruction
Strengthening of the agri-business projects
Physical facilities development
Expansion of Income Generating Projects (IGP)
Faculty and staff development
Enhancement of the Dualized Training Program (DTP) and industry linkaging
For the school’s Distinctive Area of Competence (DAC) which is Agricultural Crop Production, initial venture is on the production of different crops maximizing the limited area of land in the main school campus along the national highway. If the school will be able to utilize its old school site which is 219 hectares of land located 23 kilometers going to the hinterlands, other agricultural pursuits in line with the needs of community will also be explored. However, since the area as of this time is still facing Peace and Order problem, the 219 hectares which is 80% forestall area, is still utilized as a Watershed reserved of the Municipality of Kinoguitan Misamis Oriental.
The crafting of the KNAS Five-Year Institutional Development Plan, covering the period 2018-2022, is anchored on the institutional mandate and accountability to operate as a TESDA Technology Institution that is sensitively responsive to the emerging needs of manpower in the agriculture and tourism industry of the country and the world.
