Part 1 Historical background on the Kervaire invariant. Will run roughly from Easter until summer vacation.

• April 25th, Kristian J. Moi: Pontryagin's work on framed cobordism
• May 3rd (10.15-12.00), Johan Konter: Kervaire's topological manifold with no smooth structure
• May 9th, Thomas Blom: Kervaire-Milnor's work on groups of homotopy spheres (Notes)
• May 16th, (13:00-14:45) Tilman Bauer: Spectra and the Adams-Novikov spectral sequence
• May 28th, Greg Arone: Browder's theorem and the non-existience of manifolds of Kervaire-invariant 1 (in certain dimensions)
• June 12th, (10:15-12:00) Hadrien Espic: Relation between the Kervaire invariant, the EHP-sequence and the Hopf invariant
