Standards is the maintenance of Fraternity standards and policies. This includes educating the chapter about the role of the Standards Committee, establishing a supportive environment for members, and addressing violations of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity Bylaws, Standing Rules and Policies. The committee represents the values of the chapter and the Fraternity to the campus and the community. The purpose of a standards conference is to support and encourage a member in need, assign appropriate disciplinary action, and record actions and discussions for future use.
Standards issues can consist of a few different things. Some of these things include poor conduct, academics, attendance, finance, and anything that goes against Kappa’s bylaws.
When you receive a Standards email please respond and confirm whether or not the time you were provided works. When you arrive you will wait on the couch under our main composite by the door. Once you are brought in please tell the truth so the meeting can go as smoothly as possible. After we have asked our questions, we will send you back to the couch to wait while we discuss and decide the best and most appropriate action that should be taken.
When you are given probation it consists of a few things. You will be given a certain amount of weeks based on what the committee thinks is needed. Each week you are given will come with a term. Terms consist of a responsibility that one must uphold within that week and you must complete the provided terms by the end of each probationary week. Same applies for social probation, however, if you are given social probation you will not be allowed to be at social activities and events for our chapter.
