Ever since the church planting in Copenhagen in 1990, the Danish Church of Christ has celebrated New Year together. Many years we have had New Year’s Camp, meaning going out in the countryside - away from the city - and getting together for at least a couple of days. Since 2003 we have expanded the success and have invited our fellow-churches from all over Europe to accompany us.
In the first years, we arranged different themes for New Year’s Eve. For instance dressing up as a person from a fairytale, or being knights & princesses another year. Nowadays we dress up nicely for the New Years’ Eve dinner.
There are some things that we now do every year - as we Danes like to keep our New Years’ traditions: We dance the "Les Lancies" after the New Years’ Eve dinner, say cheers with champagne and "kransekage" when the bell hits 12 midnight, wish each other Happy New Year in the first minutes of the new year and then sing "The way old friends do", do fireworks after 12 p.m., and end up partying with dance.
For us, the New Years’ Camp is a retreat where our good fellowship (hygge) & spiritual get-together is the end and the beginning of the year.
We enjoy the beautiful nature surrounding the camp, relax with in- and outdoor activities and are refreshed with lessons from the Bible done by our guest speakers.
We do hope that you will enjoy your stay at the New Year's Camp, as much as we truly will enjoy your fellowship. We look forward to meeting you all!

"You and I can share the silence
Finding comfort together
The way old friends do
And after fights and words of violence
We make up with each other
The way old friends do
Times of joy and times of sorrow
We will always see it through
Oh, I don't care what comes tomorrow
We can face it together
The way old friends do"
