Okay okay, soo on september 1 I used my camera to capture my classmates and soo other things it worked perfectly fine then I got home transfered my canon sdcard to my phone to post the pic then put it back again, then on september 2 after I charged my camera and start using it again to capture what I always do to our school it suddenly stopped working, I thought it might got overcharged soo i bought a new one but still doesn't work, I tried searching it on youtube and follow their step and still doesn't work, can someone help me please?

What kvbarkley was trying to establish was power activity. Does the camera exhibit any signs of life when a freshly charged battery is inserted or if the SD Card activity light flickers when a card is inserted? When a charged battery is installed, the red read/write LED will flicker when the card is inserted and the door is closed.

Since you have purchased a new battery, if nothing happens when you try to turn the camera on or insert a memory card, either your battery charger has died and is not charging your batteries or the camera itself has suffered some kind of mechanical failure.

If you want to test your battery, you can charge the battery and use a ohms meter to confirm correct voltage and amps. if your battery is good, then its the camera. About all you can do is look in the battery slot and confirm the contacts are not dirty or bent. If the battery is good, and the slot looks ok, its probably time to replace your 10 yr old body.

We'll sir, I don't think the battery or the charget is the problem because it still turn orange when its not full and turns green if fully charged, if I put my fully charged battery on my dslr no flick or sign of light, I have to ask if its true that canon camera has a lifespan?

Really not proof they are still good. They can charge to what seems proper and still not have the "power" to run the camera. Voltage is not the only determining factor. The new battery you bought is it an off brand also? Is the charger an off brand as well? If you contact Canon they will instruct you to use Canon brand batteries and a Canon brand charger as a test first. Not often but I have seen off brand batteries damage a camera or cause strange things to happen with the camera. I know Canon batteries cost more and everyone likes to save money but sometimes there is good reason the buy the correct Canon battery. And truth be known the off brand batteries seem to work most of the time.

There is no set "lifespan". Products are typically supported for about 10 yrs due to manufacturing and parts availability. However, all hardware fails. (Eventually) Camera, laptop, printer or the blender in your kitchen. Sooner or later. If you have had 10 good years with your camera, that's great. Look at this as an opportunity to upgrade. I have an old SD 870 IS that still works. It must be 17 yrs old now. The shredder in my office is only 5 and although it was only lightly used, stopped working about a month ago. All hardware fails.

I can see the same thing happening with camera batteries. Your charger and camera may detect the proper battery voltage under a no-load condition. But turning the camera on and adding the load required to power up a processor, a couple LCD panels, image stabilization, automatic sensor cleaning and maybe a few self-test functions will quickly deplete what little amperage a weak, worn out or defective battery may have had. And you're left, temporarily at least, with an expensive brick hooked to that strap around your neck.

I have a Canon X9i, I took pictures and videos normally. I knew about the webcam feature but had never used it, I thought it was with EOS Utility, I downloaded the program, tried to connect the camera with USB, when opening the program, it recognized the model and the camera showed an error 70, telling me to turn it off and on , and try to remove and insert battery.

But without success, since then the camera is locked, I can't take pictures, I can't access the menu. I've tried turning it on and off, removing the battery, removing the lens, change lens, turn on without the memory card, always the same error 70.

I got in touch with Canon Brazil, but they informed that the camera is imported and they can't do anything.

I suggest that you disconnect any accessories that we don't make then remove the battery and memory card and leave them both out for about five minutes. During this time I suggest that you check the camera to see if any buttons appear stuck or out of place. If so try to gently nudge them back into position.

UPDATE (after a few days): Squirrels still visit the feeder, but normally don't stay long, and they are unable to drain the feeder as they did with our old non-"Squirrel Proof" feeder. I continue to be impress by this Birdkiss brand all metal feeder and find myself wanting to get more. :)

Original review on day one:

-------------------------------

Nearly twice the price of the all plastic smart feeders, however considerably better made. This Birdkiss feeder is impressive and in my opinion it is worth the extra price. With the exception of the clear front panel, camera and the solar panel, everything else is made of heavy nicely finished metal. The bracket that supports it is heavy and thick than the metal ones that other lower cost feeders typically provide. Those will to stand up to the fat raccoon that would occasionally raided my prior (plastic) smart feeder bend the feeder 90 degrees forward. The Birdkiss bracket is extremely thick and stiff. My raccoon "friend" has not been by to challenge it but I suspect he will loose. As an extra precaution I attached the hanging bracket (also heavy metal) and anchored it at the top with a nylon strap. With that additional support I can guarantee he will lose. Additionally the grated food tray certainly goes a long way in slowing down my local squirrel population, though they have disproved the Birdkiss "Squirrel Proof" claim. :)

I found this all metal Birdkiss feeder solves all those issues, and on top of that it is much easier to fill. The metal fill top secured with a single wing nut, but tilts forward opens wide for easy filling. There is even a small plastic measuring cup to help with that, though had no problem pouring from the large popcorn jug I store my bird feed in. Additionally its camera was sharper and clear, with brighter colors than the other smart feeder I had been using before. It connected to my WiFi without issue, and maintains a strong connection outside at roughly 25 feet from my router. I did try placing it 75 feet out from the router and found it would not maintain a connection, so definitely experiment with placement before permanently mounting it anywhere.

As much as I have sung the praise of this feeder, I will leave you with one small criticism that it shares with other smart feeders, which is the app it uses tries to upsell you to a subscription for cloud based recording. They offer longer record times and more storage though the Birdkiss app also holds back the ability to identify birds unless you go with a paid subscription. Other smart feeders don't hold that back. My prior feeder had that and I found it fun to use, though not worthy of buying a subscription to have it. I still recommend this Birdkiss feeder, and found the software better with that single exception.

As always I will return if after a few months of use, I run into issues, but my expectation is that the metal build quality of this will hold up for many years. Hopefully the same will be try for the solar panel and camera, but I will return with updates should I find those lacking.

Connecting to wifi allows for this to send alerts and videos to the app and the sensitivity is very good picking up each bird feeding interval throughout the day. The app allows you to review each capture which is further segmented by the time on any given day and the days available are listed across the top (pic included of the interface). The feeder also comes with an SD card which captures they same shots as the cloud option and lets you maintain the videos on hard media within the camera. You can also access the sd card video through the app. I chose not to spend extra on more cloud storage and the bird identification feature but for me the capture is more than enough to keep it interesting. This whole design is well constructed, the interface is simple, and the unit is just kind of fun. Well done. e24fc04721
