Then AVID could be for you!
Students who have the desire & potential to attend college after high school plus:
Average to high test scores
2.0 to 3.5 GPA (B/C student)
College potential with support
Good attendance/discipline record
Willingness to commit to taking rigorous classes (e.g. Honors/Advanced Placement/Early College)
Students are invited to apply with priority given to students who meet one or more of the following criteria:
First generation college student
Historically underrepresented in college
Eligible for free/reduced lunch
Special circumstances (ie. military-impacted family, single-parent family, English language learner, foster care, large family [more than four children in household], etc.)
Complete Part I, II and III of the KIS AVID student application by the deadline.
Applying for 7th Grade AVID: Have your childʻs 6th grade teacher complete the Teacher Reference Report (Part IV).
Applying for 8th Grade AVID: Have your childʻs 7th grade Mathematics teacher, English Language Arts teacher and one additional teacher complete recommendations, a total of three recommendations.

Early December: Watch informational video to learn more about the KIS AVID program and how to apply.
December/January: Choose AVID as your first-choice elective during the KIS registration period and complete and submit the KIS AVID application by the deadline. Please contact KIS AVID Coordinator Kristen Kane for questions about the KIS AVID program and how to apply.
Early February: Applicants accepted into the KIS AVID program will be notified and may be required to attend an interview if we decide this is feasible. A waiting list will begin once all positions are filled.
