KIS Library Acquisition Policy

KIS library caters for KIS students and staff helping them to excel in their learning and teaching.

To this aim the library curates and adds items to its collection.

Library collection caters before all for:

• Curriculum and Units of Inquiry

• Extended reading (or further reading) based on/and beyond the curriculum

• Literacy and reading for pleasure

• Personal interests of library users

Acquisition is carried out via:

1) Teaching staff requests

2) Library staff identifying the needs based on the curriculum

3) Library staff identifying the needs based on the collection analysis (replacing the out-of-date literature, identifying gaps in series, etc.)

4) Users’ recommendations and wishes

Library staff keeps a list of desiderata – a list of suggested items to be added to the collection based on the above criteria.

Anyone can make a purchase suggestion for the library collection. Purchase suggestions will be carefully considered by the library staff and checked against the criteria mentioned above and against the budgetary limits.
