Born in 1981 in Bulgaria, I came of age during the collapse of communism and the first years of democratic transition in Central and Eastern Europe. I naturally attribute my fascination with issues of democratization, economic growth and institutional design to my early adolescence.
I am an amateur photographer, recreational basketball player and a world traveler. I enjoy cooking, mowing grass and other seemingly mundane activities.
I live in Little Rock, AR, with my wife Annie Depper. In spite of my lifelong allegiance to the Duke Blue Devils, I have slowly started supporting the Arkansas Razorbacks.
In the picture: My sister and I, circa 1988, when she was still taller than me (prior to my growth spurt to 6'6'').
