In this three-page piece, I explored the connection between gun violence and its effect on student mental health, using Human Right's 108 Campaign to raise awareness. I chose this piece because I feel that it demonstrates the growth in my work's complexities and depth. This piece was completed by performing in-depth reporting into Human Right's 108 Campaign, then interviewing STEM shooting survivors to gain a human, first person understanding of the effects of gun violence on student mental health.

The Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement has been a large topic of discussion and as soon as I learned about the demonstration that students were planning to carry out during the national anthem during graduation, I charged my camera and strapped on my mask. As a journalist, I wanted to write about the Black Lives Matter Movement and felt that by reporting on this demonstration, I could bring this discussion to my school and make a stronger impact on my community with this article.

This photo essay displays the unity and excitement in Unified Basketball's first annual game. My aim was to capture this stunning display of school-wide support and compassion through the lens of my camera. I created this photo essay working in conjunction with a fellow editor. Our individual contributions are labeled.



The Coronavirus has been dominating the news cycle, causing widespread panic and unearthing racist ideologies. At the very beginning of this pandemic, I chose to write this OP-ED because my friend was a target of unprecedented racism in light of the Coronavirus. I gathered information from multiple in-school and online sources to construct a credible and impactful piece.


The homecoming football game kicked off homecoming week and raised student spirits in anticipation of the homecoming dance. This piece was chosen to represent the strong tradition and enthusiasm of a classic football game. I took thousands of photos in an attempt to capture a sample of the abundant school spirit prevalent that night.


Emily Wilding is a student who has faced issues with her mental health and wanted to share her experiences to shatter the stigma surrounding mental health. This piece was chosen due to its very raw, personal nature. I contacted Wilding and we had a lengthy conversation about her mental health battles. The abundant information I collected and Wilding's openness helped me to craft an in-depth profile.
