Eel Pie Island ~ March 2025

A fascinating visit to this museum that charts the history of the island which is steeped in history.

The museum opened in February 2018 and tells the story of the island's historic boatyards, some of whose boats took part in the evacuation of Dunkirk in 1940; its music heritage, the island's hotel ballroom hosted important music acts such as The Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart and Eric Clapton in their early years; and the life of Trevor Baylis, a resident of the island and inventor of the wind-up radio.
