Conway Hall September 2024
Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, London, is the home of the Ethical Society.
Opened in 1929, the hall is named in honour of Moncure Daniel Conway (1832-1907), anti-slavery advocate, supporter of free thought, and biographer of Thomas Paine.
The guided tour took us into the Main Hall, home to Europe’s longest-running chamber music concerts, where we were treated to beautiful piano music, and to the Library which holds one of the largest and most comprehensive Humanist Research collections of its kind in the United Kingdom.
We also visited Red Lion Square to see the statue of Bertrand Russell and read about the history of Red Lion Square and the people who lived there.
