INCLUSION

Inclusivity and Gender Policy

Kingsford Krush Roller Derby uses the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association, WFTDA’s, recommendations and guidelines as our governing principles. Among these are strict Inclusivity and Gender Policies. Kingsford Krush Roller Derby does not and will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), socioeconomic status, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, citizenship, or military status, in its activities or operations. These activities include, but are not limited to, membership eligibility, disbursement of resources, and eligibility for office. Kingsford Krush Roller Derby is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all skaters, officials, volunteers, and fans.

On Gender

Terms

Cisgender is defined for the purpose of this policy as an individual whose gender identity matches their gender assigned at birth;

Transgender is defined for the purpose of this policy as an individual whose gender identity does not match their gender assigned at birth;

Intersex is defined for the purpose of this policy to represent a variety of conditions in which a person is born with a reproductive or sexual anatomy that doesn’t seem to fit the typical definitions of female or male;

Gender expansive is defined for the purpose of this policy as an umbrella term used for individuals that broaden commonly held definitions of gender, including its expression, associated identities, and/or other perceived gender norms, in one or more aspects of their life. Some individuals do not identify with being either male or female; others identify as a blend of both, while still others identify with a gender, but express their gender in ways that differ from stereotypical presentations.

Gender Policy

Kingsford Krush Roller Derby adheres to WFTDA guidelines, which state “identifying as transgender, intersex, and/or gender expansive is not in any way related to an individual’s eligibility for participating as a volunteer or employee. An individual who identifies as a trans woman, intersex woman, and/or gender expansive may skate with a WFTDA charter team if women’s flat track roller derby is the version and composition of roller derby with which they most closely identify.”

As such, to join Kingsford Krush Roller Derby as an on-track skater, one must self-identify as a cisgender/transgender/intersex woman and/or gender expansive in accordance with the rules of women’s flat track roller derby. Induvials who identify as cisgender/transgender/intersex men are still very much welcome as members of Kingsford Krush Roller Derby in the capacity of Referees, Non-Skating Officials (NSOs), and other positions.

Final Remarks

Kingsford Krush Roller Derby seeks to make the world of roller derby accessible to all individuals and to foster acceptance and diversity in all its affairs.
