In addition to registering to take the test, both CollegeBoard and ACT.org have ways for students to study and prepare for these arduous and difficult tests. CollegeBoard has partnered with Khan Academy to give students a stylized and easy way to study for both the Math and Reading/Writing sections of the SAT. In addition, Collegeboard also offers the PSAT, a standard test similar to the SAT. The PSAT offers the same subjects, while also costing considerably less. The score you get for the PSAT will usually not be too far off from the score you receive when you take the full SAT. In addition, the PSAT will qualify for certain scholarships and many summer camps or programs will require PSAT scores. However, it must be noted that you cannot register for the PSAT through Collegeboard. You will have to register through your school. Contact your counselor for PSAT dates, and how to register for it. While ACT.org does not have that same service, they offer plenty of free resources ranging from study guides, to full-length practice tests. March to success is a free study website sponsored by the US Army providing free study guides, quizzes and full length courses. These courses are self paced and give you free flashcards and allow you to improve your test score on your own pace. March to success has study guides for the SAT, ACT and ASVAB.
