Arthur's Second Chance

Camelot has fallen. Arthur was unable to destroy his half-sister, Morgan le Fay, an immortal nine-tailed fox, and her armies led by her son Mordred, who is also the son of Arthur. Arthur was fatally wounded in the final battle between him and their son, who also fell to his father’s blade. As Arthur lay dying, he sent his Knights of The Round Table to search for his last hope of survival, the Holy Grail. He had been too distracted these long years by the war with his half-sister to search for his immortality.

Arthur was born half human, half fox spirit. Fox spirits have no fear of dying of such mortal wounds because of their ability to create an elixir of immortality from their own fox fire, a form of mystical energy. Born only half fox spirit, Arthur had no way of creating such an elixir. However, because of his lineage, Arthur lived longer with his wound than a normal mortal would have. He lay in bed dying for months before his knight Galahad finally returned from his quest. However, it was not with the Holy Grail, but with a man from a foreign land. The man wore beautiful clothes, and he had a warming, divine presence. Even as this man entered the room, Arthur could feel his wounds healing more than ever before. Arthur was unable to sit up in his bed to greet the man who just entered the room. The man revealed himself to be the god Shiva. Shiva came with a proposition for Arthur. He told Arthur he would give him another chance at immortality if Arthur would help a warrior defeat the demon king. Arthur readily agreed, and Shiva mumbled an incantation and sent Arthur through time and space, to another time and another place. Once again, Arthur awoke in a strange new world. However, this time, his guide was there upon his awakening. Shiva told him his wounds were healed, and the warrior he was to train and travel with to defeat the Demon King Ravana was named Rama.

"Rama is currently living in these woods as part of an exile," Shiva told Arthur. Arthur asked about his future companion. Shiva told him that Rama is the reincarnation of the god Vishnu, and that Rama would need Arthur’s help in order to defeat Ravana. Then Shiva said his goodbye to Arthur and faded away as Arthur began walking in the forest, searching for Rama to begin their quest together.
