The math block is center based learning built around achieving these skills.
Counting and Cardinality
Count to 100 by 1s and 10s
Count forward from a given number (ex: begin at 13)
Write numbers from 0-20
Count to tell the number of objects
Compare numbers (greater than, less than, more than, fewer than)
Operations and Algebraic Thinking
Understand addition as putting together and adding to, and understand subtraction as taking apart and taking from
Number and Operations in Base Ten
Work with numbers 11-19 to gain foundations for place value
Measurement & Data
Classify objects into given categories
Describe measurable attributes of objects such as length or weight using nonstandard forms of measurement
Geometry: Shapes
Names of common 2D and 3D shapes (square, circle, triangle, rectangle, hexagon, cylinder, cube, cone, sphere).
Difference between 2D and 3D.
Attributes of 2D and 3D shapes such as flat, solid, roll, stack, face, vertex, edge, side, 2-dimensional, 3-dimensional.
