November Learning
Big Focus: Gratitude - What and who are we thankful for? How can we show our gratitude?
Writing: Letter formation and understanding our writing lines - In Kindergarten we use the "house" method. The top line is the "roof", the middle line is the "ceiling", bottom line is the "floor", and letters g, j, p, q and y go down into the "basement".
Math: Add and subtract within 5, count show and write numbers 6-10, compare numbers to 10, and compose and decompose 10.
Reading: Isolate and pronounce initial, medial and final sounds in a word. Letter recognition and sounds for letters Kk, Nn, Rr, Dd, Ee, Ll and Gg. Introducing high frequency words "a", "the" and "me".
Science: Plants - Living and non living things, plant needs, and how humans impact the environment.
Please spend time reading with your child EVERY night to help build early literacy skills and a love for reading! You can show how to turn pages, where to start on each page, and ask questions to build reading comprehension skills.
Other notes: Please send your child to school with a water bottle or cup each day. Students are able to re-fill their water bottle throughout the day using the sink in our classroom; Our school does not provide cups for our classroom, and our closest drinking fountain is down by the gym.
Also, with the change in season, there is even more of a reason to keep a change of clothes in their backpack! Whether it's a potty accident, a mud puddle, or a messy art project, it's very helpful to have a change of clothes in their bag at all times to feel more comfortable navigating those moments. Thank you so much for your support!
