Kim Hales is an Alpine resident who owns and enjoys a 23 acre ranch with her husband Steve, USN Captain-Ret. Together, they manage and care for goats, chickens, dogs, gardens and open space habitat. She holds bachelor of science and master of science degrees in biology.
Kim has spent her career studying and caring for animals, and teaching college biology courses.
She spent her much of her professional life on the ocean studying dolphins, marine birds and sharks.
She worked as an "Animal Handler" at the San Diego Zoo
Kim has been a Professor of Biology at Cuyamaca College for 20 years, and also served as interim Dean of Math, Science and Engineering for just under 3 of those years.
Kim and her husband Steve visiting the Advanced Water Purification (AWP) plant construction site, which will provide 30% of Padre Dam customers' water once it comes online. "As a Padre Dam District 4 constituent, I wanted to learn more about the AWP, so I requested a tour to learn what Padre Dam is doing to help relieve their customers from the SDCWA's rate increases. We were treated wonderfully and got all of our questions answered."
