GIF stands for graphic interchange form. It is created using multiple pictures and can support 8 bits per pixel to create a mini repeating video. GIF's were developed using a bitmap image format by a group from the service provider, CompuServe. They were first released on June 15, 1987. The use of GIF's have been spread world wide. Whether people are using this format for comedy, art, or sending a cute message to your grandmother, GIFs are being used on a daily basis.
Inspiration
Process
I started this project with creating the woman, sun, and cup in Adobe Illustrator. I did a separate hand and arm layer so that I could manuever a different angle when it came to imitating the woman bringing the cup to her mouth.
I then went into Adobe Photoshop and set up a time line and did small movements in each layer to make the gif move smoothly.
I began the ghost project by creating the background in Adobe Illustrator. I then created two different candles. One that has a flame and one without. Next I made two different ghosts to change the way the ghost comes into the scene and face the camera.
I then went into Adobe Photoshop to complete the process by moving the ghost in little by little and creating different layers in the time line. Then I made the background black and just hand the candle without flame appear and moved it out of the frame with more layers.
Tracing
Here are images I used to to trace on Adobe Illustrator to influence my images.
First Attempt
I created the women, window and table in Adobe Illustrator. Then I added the sun and moon in Photoshop. Using the create animation timeline in Adobe Photoshop, I slightly moved the sun and moon up and down in each frame. I then created duplicate layers of the arm and cup to create a different angle to make the gif more realistic.
I created two different ghosts and candles in Adobe Illustrator. Then in Photoshop, I created an animation timeline and chose what layers to hide and what to show with each frame as well as moving the images.
