Kilshannig GAA’s astro turf and meeting room are available to book for all our teams.  These facilities are a great resource for teams -  whether it’s for training sessions, small group work, meetings or club activities.  If you’re interested in booking either the astro turf or the meeting rooms, please get in touch with the club through  Kilshannig GAA Sports Complex. Contact a member of the committee if you need to know the booking code for the ladies club.  

All other pitch bookings must be done through the GAA Club.  For grass pitch bookings, contact John Riordan.

Any challenge game played without prior permission from Cork LGFA will be considered an illegal fixture and will be dealt with under the Code of Discipline (CODA).

Please be aware that any injury sustained in an unauthorised challenge game is NOT covered by the LGFA Injury Fund.

Clubs are reminded that Rules 295, 297, 298, 299 and 300 of the 2025 LGFA Official Guide govern the organisation and approval of challenge matches.

For all challenge games from Under 13 to Adult grades within County Cork, the official online application form must be completed and submitted by the Club Secretary at least 48 hours in advance of the game. Both participating clubs must submit the required details.   All sections of the form must be fully completed to ensure approval can be granted.

We need to give at least 48 hours notice to the County Board for any Challenge game.

Challenge/Tournament Games

295.     Permission to compete in a tournament or challenge game shall be obtained at least 48 hours in advance from the appointed officer of the relevant unit;

(a) The County Board, where the tournament is for teams within the county
(b)  Provincial Council, where the teams are from different counties within the same
(c) Central Council, where teams are from more than one Province

County secretaries to be copied in all applications in the case of (b) and (c)

296. Permission to organise a tournament shall be obtained at least 2 weeks in advance from;

(a) The County Board, where the tournament is for teams within the county
(b)  Provincial Council, where the teams are from different counties within the same
(c) Central Council, where teams are from more than one Province

297. A player or team taking part in any unauthorised tournament or challenge game shall not be covered by the Injury Fund and may be subject to sanction under the CODA Rules.

298.  Any disciplinary matters arising out of the tournament or challenge games shall be dealt with under the CODA Rules. There shall be no alteration in the rules governing discipline, except in Féile Peil na nÓg, where the Féile disciplinary rules shall apply and in International Units, where permission is granted by Central Council. International Units and Féile Peil na nÓg are governed by their disciplinary rules.

299.   A member or unit of the Association shall not participate in games of Ladies Gaelic Football promoted by a body not affiliated to Central Council, without prior authorisation of Central Council.

300. A player, who is not registered with a particular Club or County, may play for that Club or County as a guest player in a tournament game, providing she has obtained permission from:

(a) The Relevant Organising Committee, Board or Council
(b) Her Registered Club
(c) Her Affiliated County, if on any County panels

Please note that both clubs must submit the request to play a challenge game 48hrs in advance. Any request within the 48hrs will NOT be approved.

Cork LGFA continues to place a strong emphasis on the use of officially appointed referees across all competitions and age grades. The role of the referee is vital in ensuring that games are played in a safe, fair and respectful environment for players, mentors and supporters alike.

All referees assigned to Cork LGFA fixtures are trained and supported through the Association’s referee development structures. Their presence helps to ensure that rules are applied consistently and that matches are conducted in line with LGFA guidelines and values.

Clubs, players and spectators are reminded of the importance of showing respect for match officials at all times. Positive sideline behaviour and adherence to the LGFA Code of Conduct help to create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone involved in our games.

Cork LGFA encourages more members to consider becoming referees, as officials play a key role in the continued growth and success of Ladies Gaelic Football throughout the county.

The Gaelic4Mothers&Others initiative, is an innovative way to introduce mothers and other women to playing Ladies Gaelic Football.   The Gaelic4Mothers&Others initiative sees women playing Ladies Gaelic Football in a fun, non-competitive and social environment. Gaelic4Mothers&Others provides an opportunity for women to get their recommended weekly exercise in a fun way while meeting other mothers in the area.

The initiative has proved hugely popular with women of all ages and has taken off in all 32 counties with success stories popping up all over the country, and most recently in International units.

There are local, provincial festivals organised every year and one National Festival which have been a huge success with over 2500 participants taking part in the National Festival Day each year.

Our Mothers and Others train every Monday night from 8-9 in the Kilshannig Complex - New members are always welcome.

Permission will be issued only on receipt of written permission from the opposing team.  Note that on guidance from Croke Park, recording of matches at underage can only be granted for finals and in that case, the recordings are for personal viewing only and cannot be shared on any social media. 

Recording at adult level will be for match analysis only except for finals.   Copies of recordings must be shared with the opposing club within 3 days of the fixture.

Also note, that professional photographers do not need to be members of the LGFA, but they must be vetted by their professional body.
