Make 2 loops around your two fingers to create an oval for the head. Twine the wire around the oval to make the "egg" shaped or round shaped head.
Take a 75-80cm wire. Fold in half and half again.
Unfold and thread 2 wires through the head.
Twist on left side of head and right side of head.
Use 1 wire on each side for the arms.
Use 2 wires to form the shape of the body. Check against the template for the proportion.
Take one 80cm wire. Fold in half. Cut to 2. Coil and use one wire for left arm and one for right arm.
Take one 80cm wire. Coil for left leg. Take one 80cm wire to coil for right leg.
Take one 80cm wire. Wrap around body to create 3-D body shape.
Lesson 1: Introduction to continuous line drawing. Draw the figurine and possible accessories in their sketchbook in continuous lines. What is the “action” of your figurine?
Learn/recap wire safety and wire techniques: twist, braid and weave. (Materials: Sketchbook/drawing paper and pencil)
Lesson 2: Make the figurine.
Lesson 3: Make a new figurine step-by-step with instructor.
Lesson 4 & 5: Make decorative accessories for the figurine or other "characters" based on sketches/story.
Lesson 6: Early finishers to make wire art for VIP gifts or make a 2nd figurine.
Lesson 7: Do final touch-ups. Write artist statements.

Materials for Lessons 2 to 7: Sketchbooks, coloured 1mm aluminium pre-cut 80cm wires and pliers. Laura to provide pliers. Zipped bags to store work-in-progress artworks
