Sunflower.
1. Can't pick the same driver w/in a 5 race span
2. Points are awarded based on finishing position, except for 1st place which counts for (-5)
3. 5 vetoes per half season (Chicago Road ends 1st Half; Atlanta Quaker State 400 starts 2nd half)
4. Any tie breakers in picking order will be decided by total points with the highest total points picking first.
5. Twice a half a player must pick two drivers outside of the top 25 (after race 4)
6. For the All-Star Race, the highest placed finisher receives (-5) points, unless the winner is picked in which case it is worth (-25) points (any driver can be picked for this race). If the winner is picked, that person also gets to spread 25 points around to choosing. If the driver who ends up in last is picked, it is +25 points and has to spread around -25 points to choosing.
7. Payoff 8th place rewards 4th, 7th place rewards 3rd, 6th place rewards 2nd and 5th place rewards 1st place.
8. Tiebreakers at the end of the season are decided by who wins the most weeks and, if a tie still exists after that, a coin flip
9. Failure to pick a driver in a timely manner results in you getting the 19th and 21st driver or, if not available, other drivers as determined by other participants
10 If you pick a driver who's car is involved in any fiery explosion with a 3rd party, non-race participant (i.e. a jet dryer) you automatically get (-100) points for the week plus the score of your other driver.
11. You may only select a driver 4 times per season.
12. If you select or veto the winning driver two weeks in a row, you earn an extra veto. Streaks can occur so if you pick the winning driver or veto winning driver 3 weeks in a row, you earn 2 extra vetoes and 4 weeks earns you 3 extra so on, and so forth. Extra vetoes earned must be used in same half (They do not carry over) HOWEVER, if you earn the extra veto on the last week right before the 2nd half, it will carry over.
13. At least once a half, there will be a live FaceTime pick with commissioner giving at least 30 days notice through the KIE text thread and through KIE weekly e-mails. Should a member not at least make a valiant effort to attempt to join the live FaceTime pick, that member incurs a twenty-five (25) point penalty.
14. Pocono Race: For Pocono weekend, each person shall pick two drivers as normal and those two drivers shall count towards both races. If you choose to go outside the top 25, it shall count twice as if it was two races. However, if you veto a driver, it still shall only count as one veto.
15. For the 2023 season, the first half of the season shall run through Nashville. Chicago Road shall start the 2nd half of the season.
16. Should there be a doubleheader race (like Poconos) and one of the 2 races is postponed, or delayed until a further date, there shall NOT be any repicking and whenever that race is run, the original picks will stand.
17. An exception to the 30 day notice requirement for live Facetime/Zoom picks is that every time there is a double header race (like Poconos), picks will be done live via FaceTime/Zoom or whatever other technological devices are at KIE's disposal. This is in effect even if the double header was not announced at the beginning of the season.
18. To the extent possible and responsible, KIE members shall indulge in a drink of their choice during the live picks.
19. All picks, vetoes, and/or nukes must be in and/or exercised at least 1 hour prior to green flag. If the last pick is made right around 1 hour prior to green flag, vetoes and/or nukes will be allowed for a reasonable amount of time with repicks due immediately.
20. Each person has the option of exercising a “nuke” one time prior to the Playoffs starting (Week 26).
21. When a “nuke” is exercised, all previous picks are null and void. New picks will be made via random.org, first randomizing player names, then driver names. The nuker will determine how many times to randomize. The first 16 drivers randomized will be assigned in order of the player randomization.
22. Upon exercising the “nuke” the person utilizing this must send a video declaring the Nuke to the group AND text/call the Commissioner until he recognizes and receives formal notice. Failure to do so will forfeit the person’s nuke for the season. Consider this the two-key turn rule.
23. When the Commissioner assigns drivers pursuant to the “nuke”, there are no penalties for drivers being given a driver who they otherwise would not be allowed to pick.
24. Should a person be given the winning driver during a “nuke” situation, the nuker’s score for the week will be doubled. This is to be a deterrent to the Commissioner in selecting the best drivers, and to deter people from using the “nuke”. Additionally, when a driver is selected pursuant to the “nuke”, the driver chosen WILL count towards your driver pick total.
25. Multiple nukes may be used during a single week. The result is the Commissioner shall reassign drivers randomly and no person may be given the same drivers that was originally given during one of the previous “nukes”.
