DO I NEED TO REGISTER TO RUN?
Yes, all runners must be officially registered to participate in the race - sorry, no exceptions.
We LOVE the enthusiasm on race day for those who may have been unsure about registering, but this creates safety and accountability concerns. Every runner is counted, covered and supported through the registration process and this helps us keep everyone safe and included.
Even if volunteering (which we REALLY appreciate) everyone must be registered to run. Registration details will follow and if you have any questions, just reach out - we're happy to help!
WHAT CAN I BUY? WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
The colour powder will show up best on white, so we recommend bringing along your brightest whites! Please wear something that you will be ok with having stained. Though the powder shouldn't stain, it is still a possibility.
PLEASE label things in case something gets left behind so we can be sure it finds its way back to you.
Rainbow Run merch will be available for purchase leading up to the race (more details on this to follow) as well as on location race day (while supplies last). We will have a variety of ‘white’ items for sale after they have been distributed to our fundraising runners. This will include hats, scrunchies, buffs, socks, sweatbands, hair bows, headbands, etc.
We will also have a selection of bright-coloured sunglasses (we strongly encourage eye protection while running).
TELL ME ABOUT THE POWDER!
The colour powder used for the Rainbow Run is non-toxic, gluten-free, and environmentally safe. It is safe for children and pets. All ingredients are FD&C and D&C-approved. Our volunteers will be aiming below the neck area of the runners; however, there's always a chance some powder can get into a runner's mouth or eyes.
The powder should not stain your clothes. However, if it's a wet day, colour may set with the water.
We will have a "de-colouring" station at the finish line where volunteers will use leaf blowers to try and remove any excess powder gathered on clothing before runners leave if they wish! In the past, some participants brought along towels for the seat of the car for the drive home.
Colour powder will first be distributed to our fundraisers/runners leading up to the race. There will also be colour packs available for purchase at Jean Lake!
WHEN DO WE THROW COLOUR?
At the beginning of each race, there will be a ‘colour throw.’ If you have a colour pack in your hand that you either earned by fundraising or that you purchased on race day, you will throw it in the air, giving everyone a rainbow look to start the race. Parents and spectators are also welcome to take part!
The rainbow vibe lasts all throughout the run. There will be a variety of ‘colour stations’ during the race where volunteers will throw powder at runners as they pass by.
CAN I WEAR MY HEADPHONES?
It is a runner's choice to wear headphones during the race. However, we want to warn runners that there may be damage caused to headphones should colour get inside them. This year, there will be music on the trails during the races!
TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE PRIZES!
As we've mentioned, there will be one BIG, awesome, amazing prize for our top fundraiser! Shout-out to Rhea Fleming for her amazing fundraising that landed her in the 2023 top spot and Farrah Hancock, who is our reigning 2024 & 2025 fundraising queen.
We will give away some door prizes in each race category, so you won't want to miss out.
Like last year, we will recognize 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each race category with a surprise!
All runners will receive a certificate of participation in our 2026 Rainbow Run.
Please note that when planning your day, awards for each category will be given out immediately after each race.
