EID Seniors

Message from Vice Principal Michaelian

EID Seniors,

As your final year here comes to a rather unusual end, on behalf of the EID staff, I want to take a few minutes of time to honor the dedication and hard work each of you have put forward over the past four years. You have grown up in front of our eyes, you have experienced and learned so much. Most of you have specific plans for your future. You are ready to take what you have learned here to the next level, and we are so proud to see you hone the skills you have developed.

Before I go any further, I’d like you to reflect on some of the challenges you have faced over the past four years. You may have faced not passing a class the first time around, not making the varsity sports team like you hoped, not getting selected to be in the Fast Track program. Maybe you struggled with standing up to make a class presentation, with relationships, or prioritizing your time to get all this online learning done.

Challenges can be viewed as problems or opportunities. Challenges force us to grow from our perceived failure and defeat. I want to encourage you as you move beyond the School of Engineering, Innovation, and Design to take some time and think through your challenges. Do you have control over the situation or not? If you do not have control over it, don’t waste your time, energy, and mental health worrying about it. If you do have control over the challenge, take the skills you have learned and see it as an opportunity to grow.

Over the past four years you have had some incredible opportunities. Coming in and out of your classrooms I have seen you engage with your teachers and classmates in very high level academic discussions, innovative projects, engaging presentations, scholarships, awards and distinctions. Though we have all experienced situations out of our control, take pride in knowing that you have experienced the best Kearny High has to offer.

Finally, don’t forget to thank your parents and family members. They have made many sacrifices to see you through the past 12 years of school. Give them a big hug and a sincere thank you. Seniors, be proud of the past four years and try to remember to turn your challenges into opportunities. You can do this by always putting forth your very best effort and in the end, no matter what the outcome; you can know you have done your very best.

Sincerely,

James Michaelian

Vice Principal
