Kharagpur is well connected to major parts of the country by train. It is approximately 120 km to the west of Kolkata. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Airport, Kolkata (CCU) is the nearest airport. Food

You have several options for your food at IITKGP. There are many restaurants and eateris on campus. Given the tight schedule of the program/lectures having food in the hall mess would be the most optimal and safer solution. Note you will have to cover the cost of food.

(i) Hall messes

You can eat in any of the Hall mess on pay & eat basis. MMM Hall, B. C. Roy Hall, Vidya Sagar Hall. Feel free to explore. Average cost: INR 30 Break Fast, INR 50 Lunch.

(ii) Night canteen at B. C. Roy and J C Bose hall.

(iii) Tea canteens: Rao Canteen in the Takshashila area (near Gargi auditorium), Kali da aka Maity Tea stall behind the Old Building which houses the Nehru Science Museum. These serve very tolerable snacks, break-fast and Lunch and at a walking distance from the venue of the meeting and the school.

(iv) Restaurants inside the campus. For example, Smartpind (thali is very reasonable and relatively fast!), PFC, several fast food corners at Tikka near the Clock tower. For more options you can google and check or don't hesitate to ask a student. Avoid taking food at Subway outlet (stale food alert)!!

(v) Restaurants outside the campus. We recommend FoodStudio, Chai Break [in Inda], Dominos [in Inda], Nasha The roof top lounge [in Inda] good view and ambience.
