“Boz Üi” Festival in Kyzyl-Tuu: Discover the Heart of Nomadic Craft
On August 16, 2025, the village of Kyzyl-Tuu — famed as the yurt-making capital of Kyrgyzstan — will host the “Boz Üi” Ethno-Cultural Festival, a vibrant celebration of nomadic heritage, craftsmanship, and community.
Home to around 1,900 residents, Kyzyl-Tuu is a living workshop where traditional yurt-making skills are preserved and passed down through generations. During the festival, visitors will have the rare opportunity to witness the entire yurt-building process, from bending wooden frames to assembling and decorating the felt-covered structure — all by hand, using ancestral techniques.
The event is much more than a craft demonstration. Guests can:
Watch master artisans build yurts from start to finish
Taste delicious Kyrgyz national cuisine
Join in traditional games and friendly competitions
Shop for handmade souvenirs
Capture stunning photos in a picturesque cultural setting
Whether you're curious about nomadic life or simply looking for an authentic, hands-on cultural experience, the “Boz Üi” Festival in Kyzyl-Tuu offers a day full of discovery, flavor, and fun — all set in the beautiful heartland of Kyrgyzstan.
