We need a way to alert our neighbors to events that may be unsafe. To do that we are using the Signal App on all our smart phones to instantly notify each other of any concern we have. This is not a substitute for calling 911 when seeing a crime in progress. Examples include suspicious cars or people, bears moving through the neighborhood.
Kenilworth Forest Safety Alert Subscribers,
We have found a better, more cost effective way to share safety alerts in our neighborhood. The price of the software we have been using has increased beyond our available budget. Today, if you send an alert text the the phone number we shared with you, it takes a member of the neighborhood watch team to forward your alert to the rest of the neighborhood. Not fast!
To address these challenges, we will switch to using the Signal App (https://signal.org/en/) on your smart phone. Then, all subscribers can instantly share any alert at the moment you observe it. Your Neighborhood Watch team has tested Signal and will maintain a Safety Alert Group that has every subscriber in Kenilworth Forest. Signal is free, but you must have a smart phone to participate. For those of you who already use Signal, this will be easy. For everyone else we will help you convert to make it as easy as possible.
