The goal of Helmets for Kids is to provide bicycle helmets for children who come from families that cannot afford a helmet. This program is supported by our community partners who assist by providing the venue and promoting it to children in their community. The Brain Injury Association (BIAWE) provides trained volunteers, helmet fitting and helmets, and bicycle safety information to children.
The Kiwanis Music Festival is an annual competitive event that provides an opportunity for hundreds of our area's music students to hone their skills, showcase their talents and gain confidence in their abilities through performance. This event was established to nurture, encourage and support our youth in both their personal and artistic development. The study of music is continually proven to be a stimulating and rewarding tool in the education process.
The Salvation Army Windsor Centre of Hope is a registered non-profit dedicated to helping people.

About Our Chapter:
Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) is an international organization responding to a real community problem of child bedlessness. As such it is dedicated to building, assembling and delivering bunk beds to children in need. The SHP motto is that “No Child Sleeps On The Floor In Our Town” and believes in providing each child with a comfortable bed to improve their sleep quality and restore dignity to families. In short, SHP aims to end child bedlessness. To aid in this cause we have joined the over 230 Chapters in the USA, our two counterparts in Canada and founded the Windsor Chapter of Sleep In Heavenly Peace.
SHP is an inclusive, diverse, 100% volunteer run, donation-based, non-faith based community organization that endeavors to accommodate all children in need of a bed.
SHP research shows that there is a real international problem with 2% to 3% of children within all communities not having their own bed to sleep on. As such, children are seen sleeping on floors, couches, where ever; and, without the means to obtain a good night sleep. We recognize the three basic human needs are food, shelter and clothing; and, beds fit into the shelter category.
In our county of Windsor – Essex there are approximately 95,000 children. Using 2% as our need factor, we see that there are approximately 1,900 children that need beds in our community. We believe that with a good nights sleep, children awake more ready and capable to take on the challenges of each day.
We aim to accomplish this goal through initiating an ongoing fundraising campaign that accepts monetary and in-kind gifts to aid our efforts in manufacturing new twin & bunk beds, obtaining new mattresses & new bedding, and building & delivering the beds. Our build days range from individual members from within the community, to concerned organizations and corporations choosing to host build days, offering volunteers for build days, or sponsoring build days. We engage all aspects of the community by allowing them to be part of the solution.
Windsor Homeless Youth is committed to assisting vulnerable individuals through outreach services, which encompass the distribution of hygiene kits, blankets, winter hats, gloves, footwear, and hand and foot warmers. In collaboration with Value Village, we also support individuals transitioning to independent living by supplying essential household items.
Established in 2017, and previously known as Angels for the Homeless of Windsor, our organization operates entirely with volunteers and collaborates closely with Feeding Windsor Essex to provide lunches to youth and individuals experiencing homelessness. We have broadened our services to include elementary students and intend to offer support to families and single parents with infant supplies.
We depend on the community's support and deeply appreciate the generosity of local businesses and donors who enable us to serve those in need.
The Windsor Youth Centre, a program of the Downtown mission provides young people aged 16-25 with essentials like food and hygiene items as well as opportunities to develop their personal identity and look into growth opportunities in a safe place.
Located at 1247 Wyandotte St. E, it is open Mondays through Saturdays with various programs and services available for our young people in need of support and guidance.
Many families in the Windsor-Essex area struggle to try and make ends meet right now and many school nutrition programs are struggling to provide healthy snacks for the growing number of students in need.
With that in mind, Manor Keys of Hope is thrilled to provide a little help to two local schools this year; Harrow Public School, and St. Anthony Catholic Elementary School.
