Hi—I'm Kevin!
In January 2018 I began keeping track of my happiness on a scale from zero to ten, every day of my life, for each fifteen minute interval I was awake. I have been recording my happiness ever since.
In college, I studied Industrial & Systems Engineering. While most engineering is how to make something, Industrial & Systems Engineering is how to make something better.
Whether it was my senior design project with the City of Roanoke and improving the processes of their paramedics to reduce the ambulance response time, or my happiness tracking project and evaluating the factors that contribute to contentment, these experiences take the same quantitative and improvement- orientated approach.
Upon entering college, I quickly realized my affinity for data analytics as I would spend hours each week with my happiness data, discovering trends and finding correlations. I even expanded this with a variety of additional projects, such as creating an algorithm and dashboard to determine optimal place to live based on personal temperature preferences.
Furthermore, at Lockheed Martin, I worked in a group aimed at helping teams across the enterprise adopt the best possible practices for work. Through data-related projects, I was researching the factors that lead to employee satisfaction and team productivity.
When I began tracking my happiness, I did not envision what I would devote myself to for the next four years, and what I plan to devote myself to for the rest of my life: researching happiness, well-being, and overall contentment.
I included some of my findings as part of this website, but do not hesitate to reach out to me to connect!
