I am an Assistant Professor of Economics at Middlebury College and a Research Affiliate of the Population Wellbeing Initiative at the University of Texas.
I work primarily in macroeconomics—specifically growth and development—as well as agricultural and environmental economics. Recently, I've been thinking about issues at the intersection of demographic change, technological progress, and sustainability.
Within agricultural economics, I focus on animal welfare as an economic externality—an idea that is underexplored in our discipline. I believe economics has valuable insights to offer here, and I'm working to bridge the current gap.
