Keshi ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency in how your data is handled.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a user of our mobile application ("App").
By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
When you create an account, we may collect:
Name
Username
Email address
Profile photo
(You will provide these during signup or profile setup)
When you use social features, we collect:
Messages sent in requests
Request details (time, app name, duration, approval/rejection)
Photos uploaded (if any)
Friends or connections you add
(This data is required for the app to function properly)
Our App uses the Accessibility Service API permission to provide its core functionaity of blocking apps.
We use this permission to:
Detect when a restricted app is being opened by the user
Display a "Block Screen" overlay to prevent access to restricted apps once the time limit is reached
Monitor user interactions to facilitate the "Request More Time" flow.
Our App requires access to device usage statistics (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS) to:
Track the amount of time spent on specific applications
Provide users with detailed daily and weekly usage reports
Optional use. Keshi uses Android’s Device Administrator permission only when you turn on Uninstall protection in the app (Profile → Extra controls). We use it so you cannot remove the app from your phone’s home screen or app installer without turn of the permission — this helps prevent bypassing screen time limits, block screens, and focus schedules.
Turning it off: You can deactivate Device Administrator for Keshi at any time in keshi app or in your device’s system settings (Settings → Security / Device admin apps, or your manufacturer’s equivalent). We do not block you from turning off this permission. If you do so while your limits or schedules are still active and other required permissions remain on, your approved friends may receive an in-app notification so they know protection was turned off.
Your choice: You are not required to enable Device Administrator to use all features of Keshi; it is optional and can be enabled or disabled by you through the app or Android Settings.
Keshi needs the Display over other apps permission (also called “draw over other apps” or “appear on top”) so the app can work as intended. This permission lets Keshi show a full-screen block screen on top of other apps when your daily app limit is reached or when a focus/block schedule is active. Without it, the app cannot reliably stop you from continuing to use limited apps after your time is up, which is a core part of our screen time and accountability features.
We use this permission only to display Keshi’s own block interface over the app you are trying to use — for example, a “time’s up” or focus block screen. It is not used to read your messages, passwords, banking details, or other personal content inside other apps. The overlay is shown solely to enforce the limits and schedules you set in Keshi. This permission is required for Keshi to run properly and to deliver the blocking experience the app is designed for; if it is not granted, limit and schedule enforcement may not work correctly.
Keshi may ask for Camera access when you take a photo during certain in-app flows, such as sending a request to an accountability friend (for example extra time, uninstall protection, or log out). The camera is used only at your request so you can capture a live photo in the app. We use it to confirm that a person is present in the frame before your request is sent. Photos are not taken in the background and the camera is not used to monitor you outside these flows. Images you capture are used only as part of the request you choose to send to your approved friends.
Keshi asks for notification permission so we can send you important alerts about the app and your accountability features. These may include friend requests and responses, approvals or rejections for time, uninstall, or log out requests, reminders when limits or schedules apply, and alerts related to permission or accountability events you have set up. Notifications are required for these features to work reliably, especially when the app is in the background. We do not use notifications for unrelated advertising. You can control notification settings through your device, but some accountability features may not work fully if notifications are disabled.
