Sara Price has lived through more in her three-and-twenty years than most do in a lifetime. She watched her mother die,  sailed to the colonies under a contract of indenture, and witnessed the gruesome murder of her employer, all before the age of twelve. Now a young woman, Sara wants to be allowed to live a quiet, peaceful life of predictability.  The rumblings of rebellion are growing too loud to ignore for long, however, and when Sara's childhood friend returns to Taunton full of patriotic fervor and romantic promise, she will need to choose which side of the coming conflict she falls on or risk losing everything she holds dear.
