Make-up Work Policy: Make-up work is YOUR responsibility! Check Google Classroom and the absent folder immediately upon returning from an absence. Notes will need to be copied from a classmate.
Late Work Policy: Late work will only be accepted untill the last week of the grading period. Points will be deducted from the original point value if it is turned in late unless otherwise specified.
Engagement: Engaging with me, your teacher, and your classmates and classroom activities will help you be successful in this course. Depending on the day, engagement may look like taking notes, asking or answering questions, working with a group, completing an assignment, listening to others.
Plagiarism: In the Internet age we live in it has become very easy to copy and paste work and claim it as our own. This is plagiarism in its worst form. However, plagiarism actually includes anytime you take information from someone else and include it in your work without giving credit, even if you put it into your own words. Throughout this class I will teach you more about how to properly credit your sources to avoid plagiarizing. Blatant plagiarism (the copy and paste type) will result in an automatic zero on the assignment. I will also follow any policies the school has in place regarding academic dishonesty/cheating. Other forms of plagiarism will be dealt with on a case by case basis however they all will have a negative impact on your grade. I may not catch every single case of plagiarism, but I do catch many of them. Remember, I know how to use Google too!
Food Policy: Healthy snacks and water are allowed. Some days food will be prohibited due to labs or quizzes/tests going on.
Phone Policy: In following CVMS's off and away policy, cell phones are to remain turned OFF and AWAY in 8th Grade Science. You will not be permitted to access any phones during class UNLESS given permission to do so for educational purposes.
