The STEM Lender Program idea was driven by the Ambassador program. If I was not part of the program, this idea would never have existed. I cannot explicitly state how this idea came about, but the need to expand the STEM ecosystem I had developed was a driving force for me all school year.
Through the Ambassador program, I received a set of Tello Drones, a 3-D printer and full suite of multi-sensor Databots. Having these items provided so many opportunities for STEM development. It only made sense to provide these items to all STEM teachers if possible.
AFCEA Chapter 158 is a very powerful organization with a full committment to STEM education. If they have the money, they will support all STEM initiatives. So, I proposed that we buy bundles of drones, 3-d printers, Databots, and laptops with hotspots. Teachers will LOVE access to these items as they are not authorized by DoDEA, yet teachers "need" or want them badly.
Without much resistance, the chapter approved my request and I began procuring these bundles which will be moderated and controlled by AFCEA for loan throughout the district next school year. I am so pumped to see the reaction! I have already loaned out my Drones to a middle school teacher. Just imagine what will happen when we fully advertise in September....
