28th October - The A team visited Barrow and registered a 3 - 0 win against Barrow B. A good first win for late substitute Michal.
24th OPctober - The first B team match was against Ulverston B and resulted in a 2-2 draw with good wins for Aleksander Libicki & Jonathan Rashleigh.
19th October - Seven members participated in the County Rapidplay Tournament. The Kendal Castle team finished mid table but sadly the Kendal Mintcakes finished last!
8th October - The A team started their season with a 3-0 win over Ulverston C.
18th September - After the AGM, David Aldous has taken over from David Shaw as club chairman. Michael Thistlewood continues as Secretary and Jon Duckham as Treasurer. There will be two teams playing in the Cumbria South League captained by David Phillips and Jonathan Rashleigh and one in the Lancaster & Morecambe League captained by Alex Billings.
9th May - 5th May was the date of the annual jamboree rapidplay and prize giving for the Lancaster League. A team of David Phillips, Alex Billings, Jon Duckham and Jonathan Rashleigh took part and won the event. A nice end to the season.
15th April - A good 3.5 - 0.5 win against Barrow A. Only one match to go - against league leaders Ulverston A
8th April - Congratulations to Dave Phillips for winning the club knockout
27th March - Wins by Jon Duckham and Colin Bragg and a draw from Jack Bow ensured a good win against Ulverston C.
20th March - Sadly Lancaster did it to us again in the Lansil Cup. We had our four strongest out, but still lost 1 - 3. We will have to wait until next year for our revenge.
6th March - Lancaster A fielded a very strong team for their league match against us. Alex had a good win but we went down 1.5 - 2.5.
28th February - Alex, Jon, Dave and Jonathan all won their games last night for a convincing win over Ulverston B
21st February - Our two most regular juniors Alexander and Chistian played in the recent Ulverston Junior Tournament. Alexander won the U11 section with 6 points and Christian came second with 5.5 points. well done to both!
14th February - Another good win against Barrow B keeps the pressure up on Ulverston A2
24th January - Dave Shaw, Andy Bow and Jack Bow saw off Barrow B last night with a convincing 3 - 0 win.
16th January - The same team as last week but what a different result. Wins for Alex, Jon and Dave S and a draw by Jonathan made for a convincing win against Morecambe
10th January - A bad start to 2025 with a heavy loss to the now strong Bare Village team. Hoping for better things against Morecambe next week.
10th December - Wins for David Shaw and Jonathan Rashleigh and a draw by Colin Bragg ensured a comfortable win over Ulverston C
3rd December - A solid performance against the young Ulverston B team last night with wins for all four players - David Phillips, Alex Billings, Colin Bragg & Jonathan Rsahleigh
29th November - The team were away against Morecambe on Wednesday for the Lansil Cup knockout match against Morecambe. Wins for Dave Phillips, Alex Billings and Jonathan Rashleigh ensured the win.
14th November - A slightly weakened team drew against Barrow with all four games drawn!
22nd October - Our first Cumbria league match was away against last year's winners Ulverston A. A loss 2.5 - 1.5 was not a bad result against them.
18th October - Three of the four first round knockout matches were played last Thursday. Something of a record!
16th October - a good 4-0 win away against Lancaster Dragons last night but there are harder matches to come!
4th October - Five of us competed in a fund 15 minute a game all-play-all last night. Congratulations to David Philips the winner
26th September - Alex Billings & David Philips contested the final of last years club Knockout Trophy tonight. It ended in a draw and it has been agreed that the trophy will be shared for this year.
15h August - Looking forward to the new chess season - just a couple of weeks away.
30th April - We lost the Lansil Cup Final 3-1 completing a season of 'nearly but not quite'!
20th April - Well done to the A team for beating the very strong Ulverston A team on Thursday. Ulverston will probably still win the league but that is not yet definite and Kendal A are on top at present.
3rd April - With two matches each to play, Kendal A and Kendal B are 2nd and 3rd respectively in the South Cumbria League. Neither can now realistically expect to overtake Ulverston A.
14th March - A resounding 3.5 - 0.5 win over Morecambe was not quite enough to win the Lancaster league - equal on points with Lancaster A but with a worse game score. A win this week for the B team against Ulverston C.
2nd March - The boys did their stuff again last Thursday to beat the Lancaster A team for the second time in 10 days taking us to the final of the Lansil Cup where it looks as though we will be playing Bare Village.
26th February - The B team completed a surprising double over the A team in the Cumbria Sout League. Pleasing for those involved but it it now unlikely that either team is in a position to challenge Ulverston for the league title.
21st February - Two very good results in the Lancaster League beating Lancaster Acadamy and Lancaster A team - both results 3.5 - 0.5. Can we beat Morecambe in a couple of weeks and win the League for the second year running?
9th January - Convincing wins for both the A and B teams in the first matches of the new calendar year. Keep it up chaps!
7th December - A busy week! Kendal A visited Ulverston C on Monday and scored a good win. Kendal B travelled to Barrow last night a man down and were thrashed despite outgrading their opponents on both boards that were played. Tonight Kendal take on Lancaster B in a home match.
30th November - Apologies for the lack of updates as the webmaster has been on a prolonged holiday in Australia. The site will be updated shortly.
15th October - The first match of the season was Kendal B v Ulverston B at home. It ended in a 2 - 2 draw.
6th October - The Club is now buzzing. We have several members both beginners and experienced players. We are putting two teams in the Cumbria South League. We are also putting a team into the Lanaster, Morecambe & Distric leage playing both in the league, the knockout and the quickplay
2nd September - The Club re-opens this coming Thursday 7th September. The AGM will be on Thursday 21st September. All are urged to attend and contribute to the future direction of the club. There will be plenty of time for chess after the meeting.
