Communication- Williams Elementary
Communication is BIG
Every week I send out a weekly newsletter to staff. The WES Weekly is created using Smore.com and contains the weekly events, reminders, tweets of the week, shout-outs recognizing staff going above and beyond, staff Spotlight of the Month, staff birthdays, staff news they would like to share, an inspirational quote or message and/ or an article or video.
At the beginning of each month, I send out a parent newsletter (Mustang Memo) which I create using Smore.com. This is sent via email, Facebook and Remind 101. It is sent in English and Spanish.
I stress the importance of teachers having frequent, positive contact with parents. They each have a Remind 101 and a twitter account. They make a positive phone call to each parent within the first 2 weeks of school.
I get to make positive phone calls to parents through our Positive Office Referrals. Teachers refer students to the office for making good choices. Our goal is for each student to receive at least 1 before the end of the school year. Last year we made 702 positive phone calls home!
As a principal I try to be visible throughout the school. My goal is to go into each classroom everyday. I also greet students and staff each morning in the main hallway.
We have weekly folders that go home each Thursday to parents. This contains their weekly conduct card and work they completed.
Reminders of upcoming events are sent on a regular basis via email, Remind 101 and Facebook in English and Spanish.
