Dexter Earth Day Events – Earth Day Upcycle Crafting

Take packaging tubes of different sizes and create a colorful wall hanging organizer. The finished organizer will be about eleven inches long by seven inches tall. You can decide to make it smaller or larger to fit a space in your home. Make it your own by designing it and choosing paint colors you like. There’s no need to be an artist or even an expert crafter as park staff will supply everything you need and go step-by-step with you to complete this upcycle craft. This program will take place outside near Hudson Mills Activity Center. Social distancing and face coverings are required.. Ages 10+. $6. Pre-registration required 2 days in advance at 734-426-8211. Brownstown Earth Day Events – Earth Day Clean-up

Earth Day is a perfect occasion to take care of outdoor spaces by helping keep them clean. Volunteers will help clean-up along the picnic areas and shoreline of the park. Individuals, families and groups are all welcome to participate. Volunteers will be assigned to different areas of the park at check-in. All necessary tools, gloves and bags will be provided. Volunteers will receive free entry into the park on clean-up day. Scouts can earn a Earth Day Fun Patch. Face coverings and social distancing are required. All Ages. Ages 14 & under must be accompanied by an adult. This is a FREE Event. Pre-registration 1 day in advance by calling 734-379-5020. Milford Earth Day Events – Earth Day Clean-up

Volunteers will be broken into small groups and assigned to different areas of the parks, including the Kent Lake shoreline. Scouts can earn an Earth Day Fun Patch. Volunteers receive free entry into the park on the day of the program. Water and snacks will be provided. Clean-up tools and supplies will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring your own. Social distancing and face coverings are required. This is a FREE event. All ages. Under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration is required at least 1 day in advance at 810-227-8910.
Keep your environment safe and healthy ! We will be offering hazardous waste collection (e.g. oils, chemicals, sharps, expired medications) at school from 3:30 - 5:30 pm on 4/30 for busy parents who find it easy to drop off at school.

The classroom with the most number of participants each month will earn a cash award and pajama day.
LOOK FOR THE RECYCLE BOX NEAR THE MAIN ENTRANCE OF KEITH! BE SURE TO PUT YOUR ITEMS IN A PLASTIC BAG (WHICH WILL ALSO BE RECYCLED) WITH YOUR CHILD'S NAME AND TEACHER NAME FOR THE COMPETITION. There are SEPERATE bins for different items, please dont mix them up in one bag
HHW - Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off day at West Bloomfield is 5/1/2021. Check the city website for details.
Why Participate ?
Cell phones: Coltan is a mineral found in phones and other small electronics. It is found in areas where endangered gorillas live. Recycling old phones helps reduce demand for coltan and protects their habitat. Stationary: Save your used school supplies from landfills ! Hazardous waste: Stay healthy be keeping toxic materials from polluting the environment.
How to identify: Look for key words on containers such as "Danger", "Caution", "Poison", "Flammable", "Corrosive" or "Use in Well Ventilated Area”.
Our Partners:
All phones and paper towel rolls will be donated to DETROIT ZOO. They make animal enrichment toys with paper rolls and recycle phones. We are recycling stationary in collaboration with BIC and Terracycle. Hazardous waste collection is in collaboration with city of West Bloomfield.
