Our Story

Keeper Wars is a semi-annual, local soccer tournament that finds its roots with two friends in Little Rock exchanging some friendly banter about which one was the better goalkeeper. We are proud and privileged to take part in bringing the local community together to support local soccer and businesses, and to raise funds for Arkansas Children's Hospital.

Our first tournament for adults was held in the Fall of 2019 thanks in large part to Arkansas Central Soccer Association. Our first youth tournament is upcoming in the Spring of 2020 with the help of Arkansas State Soccer Association.

Keeper Wars is a unique soccer style game featuring just one player squaring off against one other player. While the emphasis is obviously on goalkeeping ability, good striking ability is just as crucial. The game takes place between the first two players on a miniature soccer field; each one taking turns to either throw, drop kick, or kick the ball from the ground at the opposing goal.

The Arkansas State Soccer Association (ASSA) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) tax exempt corporation. Founded in 1979, ASSA is governed by a Board of Directors that is elected by representatives from our 45+ Member Associations, and maintains a State Office in Sherwood with a professional staff. Their mission is to:

  • Educate coaches, players, referees, parents, and administrators
  • Develop and administer soccer programs and activities for youth and adult players
  • Provide opportunities and experiences for all participants where they can develop positive character traits while reaching their full potential
  • Promote and stimulate interest in the game of soccer for a lifetime
