The problem of litter in Benwell has been highlighted in the news on several occasions over the past few years. One newspaper described us as the 'litter capital of Newcastle'. A survey in 2015 showed that 2,457 fines for litter had been handed out in our area whereas most other areas in Newcastle had 30 fines or less! Despite these fines, the problem still exists.
