Keeg is the son of the Negative Spirit, an alien energy being from the Negative Nebula. Keeg himself has never been to the Negative Nebula, apart from when he was conceived. He was placed inside the Negative Spirit’s host Larry Trainor in larval form and Larry was sent back to Earth. Keeg started out as a lump in Larry’s stomach that moved around his body to different places, as he was gestating inside of Larry. He was then in larval form outside of Larry’s body, when Larry carried him around in his arms like a baby or in a baby carrier on his chest, until Keeg grew out of his larval stage and into his stage as a small energy being made out of Negative Energy, when he needed to merge with Larry. He was temporarily hosted by Vic until Larry and Keeg could fully merge. At this point, Larry’s body had grown to be able to tolerate being without a negative spirit for days, and Keeg spent a lot of his time stubbornly playing around in the manor’s electricity instead of in Larry. Keeg could also go into Larry’s orchids and be sustained by them. 

When the Doom Patrol were in trouble, Keeg found out and came out of the electricity to rescue them. When he did that, however, he went inside of Rama instead of returning to Larry. He could see things in Rama, a potential within him, and wanted Larry to find them so he could show him their similarities and form a connection between them. Later, Keeg met a future version of himself that showed him that they would throw Larry into a sun to stop danger from his radiation, and Keeg lived in fear of having to kill Larry and being separated from him. Eventually he showed this to Larry. Rama was with the cult of Immortus, intent on bringing a powerful entity known as Immortus back. He thought Immortus could help him because his powers to control the elements were making him unstable. Although Larry convinced Rama that Immortus was not the way to do it, Keeg believed in Immortus and thought Immortus could save him and Larry, too. What they needed to bring Immortus back is Larry, Cliff, Jane and Rita’s longevity, as the Chief had used Immortus’s longevity for them in the first place. Keeg accidentally disintegrated Rama when pushing Larry back into the portal to Orqwith where Immortus’s followers were, because he wanted Larry to give up his longevity to help bring Immortus back, thinking Immortus would be able to keep them together indefinitely.
