The Veteran Advisors Committee was created to ensure that veterans with lived experience have a meaningful role in shaping conversations, policies, and practices that affect veterans across Kansas City.
We believe lived experience is expertise. Veterans who have navigated housing instability, system barriers, behavioral health needs, employment transitions, or challenges accessing support bring valuable insight that can help our community build stronger, more responsive systems.
This committee exists to create space for those voices to lead, inform, and strengthen the work being done across the veteran-serving landscape.
To serve as a lived experience advisory body that helps improve veteran-serving systems in Kansas City through feedback, collaboration, and accountability.
The Veteran Advisors Committee works to:
Elevate veteran voice in community planning and decision-making
Identify gaps in services, supports, and systems coordination
Offer practical, lived experience feedback to providers and partners
Encourage solutions that are respectful, effective, and community-informed
Build stronger connections between veterans and the systems designed to support them
Those closest to the challenges are often closest to the solutions. The committee helps ensure that programs, policies, and services are informed by real-world experience, not assumptions.
