Competitive Men's Swimming Team
Our Competitive Open Swimming Team is one of the top university swimming teams in London. Our swimmers regularly reach the Finals and win medals in prestigious national events such as BUCS and BUSL. Our athletes and alumni include national champions, record holders, Olympians, and Commonwealth Games participants. However, we also welcome swimmers who prefer a more relaxed approach to competition. Our recent Varsity win over UCL showcases our team's hard work and dedication.
"I have always loved being in the water. It all started with family trips to the beach every summer since I was a child. As my passion for swimming grew, I began competing when I was six. I've been swimming ever since.
Looking forward to next year, I am excited to meet all the freshers and expand our swim team. My goal is to help everyone improve their times and achieve a very competitive level at swim meets. I am committed to ensuring that each team member reaches their personal best and continues to grow as a swimmer"
Competitive Women's Swimming Team
Our Competitive Women's Swimming Team is one of the best uni swimming teams in London and the whole country. Our swimmers frequently reach the Finals and win medals at BUCS and BUSL events. Among our athletes and alumni are national champions, record holders, Olympians, and Commonwealth Games participants. Nevertheless, we also embrace swimmers who enjoy a more relaxed approach to competition. Our recent Varsity victory over UCL highlights our team's dedication and determination.
"I began swimming at age 10 with the Junior Varsity Team at Cairo American College, eventually becoming team captain. After moving to Italy, I joined Sporting Milano 3 Club and continued competing. Though I took a break during my undergrad, I returned to the sport last year as a first-year medical student - and quickly rediscovered my passion for it.
What I’ve valued most about this team is its welcoming, tight-knit atmosphere combined with a strong commitment to excellence in training and competition. I’m thrilled to be captain this year and to help carry that spirit forward. With BUCS (long and short course), BUSL, LUSL, and Varsity on the horizon, we’ll have plenty of opportunities not just to train and compete, but to form lasting connections - both in and out of the pool."
Competitive Men's Waterpolo Team
Our Competitive Men’s Water Polo Team will be competing in the BUCS Second Division this year, with an aim for promotion to the Premiership at the end of this season! We consistently top the local league tables, and we're ready to solodify our presence in UK University Waterpolo with a triumphant return to the Premier league. We aim not only to strengthen our team and achieve better results but also to foster a supportive and friendly team environment.
"After having played and trained with some of water polo’s biggest names, as well as enjoying a brief stint with the Belgian national team, I am honored to accept the role of captain for the men's water polo team this season.
My water polo journey began at the age of 11. After three years of swimming, I decided to join my local water polo team in Brussels. There, I not only grew as a player but also found a second family.
It wasn’t until four years later, when I joined a junior team at one of Malta’s professional clubs, that my game truly took off. Over the past four years, I’ve improved significantly by competing in Malta’s junior divisions and Belgium’s second tier.
Water polo is a demanding sport, but the sense of community we’ve built across different teams has always made it incredibly rewarding. After some tough results last year, this season’s focus is on climbing back to the top.
We hope to get as many of you involved as possible and will be organizing some fun team socials. We look forward to welcoming you into our team this season!"
Competitive Women's Waterpolo Team
Our Competitive Women’s Water Polo Team is quickly making its mark in UK university water polo. As we enter our third season in the BUCS Premiership, we are the only London women's team in this league, after a well-deserved promotion in 2023. We are eager to continue our success, building on our strong foundation of hard work and commitment, but still enjoying the sport we love and championing our women to .
"This will be my fifth year on KCL Women's Waterpolo team, and I honestly still can't believe I get the privilege of being its captain this year. I started playing as a complete beginner when I came to King's in 2021 and in that time I've been incredibly lucky to not only grow into a competent goalkeeper (I hope!), but to do so alongside some of my closest friends, including players of high international standard. We have a lovely bond as a team, and I would be lost without my waterpolo girlies!
Our women's team is a safe place for newer players to blossom, but also for experienced players to continue their athletic development. As a former Mixed Captain, working alongside Nadav and Izac to introduce new players to the sport will be very important to me. The training programme we offer has grown so much in the past four years, and we still have so many opportunities for even further growth. I can't wait to see what this year brings!"
Competitive Mixed Waterpolo Team
Our Competitive Mixed Water Polo Team offers the perfect opportunity for less experienced players to dive into the world of water polo competitions. While we consistently emerge as one of the top teams in the LUSL competition, as shown by our recent cup and league victories, we balance our competitive edge with a focus on learning and having fun. This makes our mixed team the ideal environment for players to improve their skills and enjoy the game.
"Hey everyone!
I’m Nadav, a 2nd year physiotherapy student and the new water polo mixed team captain. Coming from having played water polo a few times before joining KCLSWP, the society has made me fall in love with the sport. During my first year we destroyed the competition and hopefully we’ll repeat that this year. I recommend the sport to anyone who likes working as a tight-knit team and enjoys merging several different sports into one.
Join us, have some fun, and let’s all smash it together!"
