If you're having trouble with the operation of any of your mission models, please go back through the build instructions to make sure the model has been built correctly.
If you think your mission model is built correctly & set up per the instructions but are still not satisfied with its appearance or operation, check below. If your problem isn't discussed here please send Michael and Andrew an email at kcfllref@gmail.com.
See Update 01 from 8/6/24; one of the pieces of Dual-Lock needs to be placed off the marking on the mat.
See Update 07 from 9/3; which of the 3 reef segments go in which circle is a random decision of the referee during match setup
When setting up the back half of the shipwreck, the arms of the Kraken go on top of the horizontal grey axle on the west side of the ship. This can be clearly seen in the field setup video on FIRST's YouTube channel (added 10/22)
There are extensive instructions in Update 06 from 9/3 about how to attach this mission to the mats. The location of the towers depends on the thickness of the table walls; they must be placed so that they are perpendicular to the table.
If the submersible isn't sliding well when one side is raised, check to see if the two grey pieces holding the blue roller are too tight. Loosing them just a little should make the roller move more freely. (added 11/17/24)
See Update 07 from 9/3; the orientation of the 5 krill is randomly selected by the referee during match setup
This year's mat is centered on the Field; it goes against the south wall and evenly centered east-west (it does not cover the entire mat). ALL of a team's Equipment must be stored either in the hands of a Technician (one of the students at the table) or the two Home areas, which are the part of the Field not covered by the mat plus the two Launch Areas (see rule 9 on the "Before the Match" section on page 16 of the rulebook and the diagram at the top of that page). Home is the only place on the Field where the Robot can be handled after launch without the loss of a Precision Token.
The optional use of tape to hold down the edges of the mat has been removed from the rules; it is, however, mentioned in the table building instructions. We have decided to use 5 or 6 small pieces of black gaffer's tape on both the east and west edges.
