Here are same debating tips & guidelines for Debate Competition.
Debate Structure:-
Introduction: -
The moderator introduces the topic and the team followed by a brief statement of the topic
Opening statements:-
Each team member presents their opening statement, which outlines their positions and arguments.
Rebuttal:-
The teams then take turns responding to each other's arguments, challenging and refusing their opponent's points.
Cross-examination:-
Each team has an opportunity to ask questions to the opposing team to clarify their position or challenges their arguments.
Closing - statements:-
Each term presents a summary of their position, restates and their strongest points and makes a final appeal to audience.
4.Each team is allowed to bring in research material to support their argument if they want.
5.No new constructive arguments may be introduced in the rebuttal period.
6.The affirmative must, if possible, reply to the major negative arguments before the last rebuttal.
7. Personal Attacks of derogatory language are not allowed. Otherwise team will be disqualified.
8.Debate topics are given in three languages like English, Marathi and Hindi. From those you can choose any one language for your debate.
9.Respect all members of debate.
10.Do not make personal attacks or Comments.
10.Address the speaker "Mr.” or 'Madam” only.
11.Speak clearly & confidently.
12.You will be graded by your peers and last opinion about debate winner will be decided by judges only and that will be final decision.
