This presentation was delivered to defense undergraduate thesis program on "PMMA-based Nanocomposite for Self-cleaning Technology". Through this presentation, we discuss about the mechanism of self-cleaning property, modes of self-cleaning system, materials and methods used to fabricate self-cleaning surface, recent uses and advantages of PMMA-based nanocomposite, characterization of the samples, applications of this type of nanomaterials and future challenges. By this presentation, enhancement of durability, and transparency were also tested.

In materials science, defect is not curse at all. It can be the blessing for the materials structure. But in this presentation, we discussed about the bad effect of crytal deffect. Crystal deffect cause the materials more ductile or brittle as it can act like stress realser or riser. In this presntation, we mainly focused on a failure caused by planar defect on Agust 06, 2012 at The Chevron USA Inc. Refinery in Richmond, California. By the prsesentaion, we have discussed about the disaster and the pollution of environment for this kind of unwanted accident.

For electroplating, the main and first thing to understand is the electrochemistry. Electrochemistry tells the right material to be plate on or over the other materials. Plating on other material is needed to protect the substrate material from corrosion or material degradation. In large scale, every years many of millions dollar are wasted for the curse.

In this presentation, we have tried to give a presentation on the failure due to creep. Creep failure is occured due to the normal stress at an elevated temperature for an exposour of time. The fracture is propagate through three steps; primary, secondary and tertiary. At secodary stage the deformation rate is almost secondary where the dedformation rate at primary and secondary stage is high. At tertiary stage when the deformation rate is too high to bear, then the failure occures. In this presentation, we discussed the creep failure effect on the pan support teeth of the gas stove.

In this presentation, the topic of discussion was the mechanism of edge dislocation; how it creats, its movement, advantages, disadvantages etc. There are two types of dislocation based on their movement direction; edge dislocation and screw dislocation. In this dislocation, burgers vector is perpendicular to dislocation whereas parallel to dislocation movement. In other words, burgers vector is parallel to slip direction.

In this presentation, we were passing by a discussion about the failure due to the temperature effect on the brittle materials. Mainly, we have discussed about the accidint which took place at Boston on January 15, 1919. The temperature was over -17 degree celcius to 5 degree celcius. The ivestigator found sulphur, Manganese and Phosphorus in the alloying ellement of the tank. The temperature and the alloying ellement helped the tank materials to transform into brittle materials and caused the failure.
