Going north from camp Carlen, we get to Camp Crown (Mojave Mojave). If you ever go to visit (via a hike or trail ride or avs) you’ll notice there's a large patch of sand in the middle of the main section of it, kinda like a small desert. The joke became that it was a kind of desert. Opened in June of 1971 and Named after Judge Robert Crown, it was similar to Wolverine. It was fully staffed like Wolverine and hosted hot pack meals, a central lodge, and a swimming pool. The lodge that currently stands is very similar to the one located at Carlen, and the pool is also quite similar. The Kybos are different from those at Carlen, with a Diamond-Shape front more similar to the Reneker Cabins actually. It remained open until the 3rd week of 1989 when it abruptly closed. Their waterfront was located on the eastern end of Lake Wolverine, with the waterfront shack still standing. The waterfront was a lot like Wolverine’s and Carlen’s, with a long, wooden plank dock running lengthwise rather than jutting out into the lake, which makes sense when considering the soft and weedy bottom of Lake Wolverine. Because Crown was located just across the lake from Wolverine (separated by a few hundred feet of water at most) for a while in the 1970s there was a rope bridge/type rope that connected the two, and they would often exchange scouts for the program. The bridge from the Wolverine side to Crown’s side would end at a cabin called Deuce’s Wild, which was built in the 1970s (Though the area has been called that since at least the 1930s) and still stands to this day. The staff row was moved from Carlen to the Ad Center in the 1990s to house the High Adventure staff, and various other parts of the camp are still in use. ATVs often take rides through Camp Crown, along with mountain bikes and nature hikes.
