To act in the best interest of my students, I must be reflective and reflexive. When educators meaningfully and intentionally engage with their values and the standards of the BCTC, they are better able to produce learning experiences for their students that reflect and foster equitable, engaging, and respectful teaching practices. Through my exploration and reflection of differing praxis practices, I have further developed my understanding of my professional values and see an array of connections between them and BCTC Standard 1. I know that through my continued reflective and reflexive practices, I will be able to ensure that I can embody these values and standards throughout my time as a teacher candidate and future educator.
To implement effective and inclusive teaching strategies, I must have a diverse and extensive collection of resources. The key to valuable resources is organization and accessibility. Through my organization journey, I ensured that I could access all of my required instructional resources and effectively and efficiently create, adjust, and adapt learning experiences for my students.
As reflected above, the organization of my resources has led to my abilities in creating the best learning experiences for my students possible. To ensure that I am upholding this professional standard for myself, I must also find tools and templates that reflect my pedagogical practices and planning needs. Through my review of the previously used unit and lesson plan templates, I have ensured that I will create and cultivate lessons and activities that foster my students' growth, independence, and connections to the learning standards.
The creation of this E-Portfolio required recognizing my professional goals and the ambition to set and meet them. Each goal that I developed during my practicum preparation reflects my developing personal philosophies of education, teaching and learning.
