Inside A Kayla's Kits

FROM DONATIONS TO KAYLA'S KITS

1. Fundraising

We fundraise all year round! During the school year, we actively seek service organizations to help us by collecting specific items for our Kayla's Kits. In the spring, we kick off a monetary fundraising campaign to help us reach our goal.

2. Sorting and Shopping

As we collect items, we sort them and inventory them. Once we know what items we have, we come up with shopping lists and go shopping. To maximize the number of Kayla's Kits we make, we shop with coupons!

3. Packing Party

In August after we have all the items we need, we have a giant packing party! Volunteers of all ages are invited to join us. There are a few speakers to give volunteers a deeper look into the impact of Kayla's Kits. Speakers have included DFCS employees, our Founder, and Kayla herself.

4. Delivery

As soon as the Kayla's Kits are all packed, they are delivered the DFCS offices. DFCS distributes the Kayla's Kits to children as they enter foster care. The kits are delivered in August because as school goes back in session, the number of children entering foster care increases significantly.

AGE DIVISION

Kayla's Kits are divided into 10 different groups. Male and Female Kayla's Kits exist for the following ages: 0-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, and 13-17. Each Kayla's Kits contains gender and age appropriate items.
