Thank you so much, and that’s a great question! I have an answer, because I listened to Mr. Stanford on KNET 95.7 with Kat Powers. If you haven’t listened to them before, I recommend it, they call it PANTHER BANTER. As per Mr. Stanford’s interview, the newest construction happening in our district is for the WISD Administration Office/Central Office. New offices will centralize all leadership teams under one roof, making them more efficient and effective to collaborate. This new facility will also house the Police Chief, Maintenance, Transportation and Food Services. This project will be completed sometime in August 2025, and there will be an Open House with a surprise attachment to the past. There will be a training room where board meetings will be held, it will will be available to the community to use for meetings. I think it will be a great addition for our district, as their current office was outgrown soon after they moved in.
I have been preparing most of my adult life to serve on the WISD School Board, and I just didn't know it.
I became a wife and mother, teaching me patience and understanding.
I’ve been a Girl Scout leader for our girls and others to grow my leadership skills.
I worked at Kolstad Jewelers and the Palestine Herald-Press in the Advertisement Department learning how to better serve our wonderful community.
I helped move and clean up classrooms at Westwood Primary School when it was destroyed in the tornado of 1984, I have volunteered countless hours at my children’s schools as Home Room Mom and Treasurer on PTA, worked numerous concession stands for sporting events, and helped build the current softball field with my husband and families, all while growing my servant’s heart.
I worked at Westwood ISD as a classroom paraprofessional, attendance clerk, Guardian, cheer sponsor, and administrative assistant learning how to wear multiple hats of many different responsibilities successfully.
So, you see, I’ve been preparing for this School Board position for a very long time to lead and empower the staff and students at WISD.
