Hello, my name is Kaya Seabaugh! I'm a Lifer at JCOS, graduating May of 2024. I created this website as a trans ally, in collaboration with my Logical Inquiry and Global Awareness Passages, to help educate my family, friends, and community on trans people, trans topics, trans issues, and more to offer resources and support for local trans and gender diverse youth, their families, and friends who might need it!Â
I found my inspiration to embark on the journey of creating this website, and dedicating both my Logical Inquiry Passage and my Global Awareness Passage to the topic of transgender and gender diverse issues, from my partner, Orion. His journey highlighted a lot of the hardships that trans people face, and further brought attention to the need for more support within the trans youth communities. Witnessing his courage to always stand up and advocate for himself and others sparked my own courage to use my privilege to inform and support and provide resources to others.
"We find ourselves on the precipice of social, political, and scientific changes of revolutionary proportions. To engage is essential - to advocate for the protection of human rights even more so. Oppressed communities rely on those around them with more privilege to elevate their voices and make change." - Orion Casebeer
