For this project, I started by selecting an image of Homer Simpson from the internet. Then, I used Adobe Illustrator to carefully recreate the character as a vector illustration. I traced the character using the Pen Tool and adjusted body poses and facial expressions to fit a short visual story.
The storyboard consists of six frames, showing Homer craving donuts, placing a large order, receiving them excitedly, and enjoying eating them, only to discover the consequences of overeating at the end. I changed the backgrounds and character movements in each frame, and used some symbols to enhance emotions and support the storytelling.
This project highlights my skills in digital illustration, my attention to detail, and my ability to convey comedic expression through imagery effectively.
For this project, I created an 8-page cookbook using Adobe InDesign. The book contains five main sections: breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, and beverages. The front cover on page one was designed using Adobe Photoshop, and the back cover on page eight includes the barcode.
I chose to feature a dish I personally love on the cover, which I photographed myself. The colors and title on the cover were also designed by me, carefully selected to match the theme and content of the book. The title is my own creation, and both the photography and cover design are my original work. All the photos inside the book were taken by me except for two breakfast photos, which were sourced from the internet.
The book focuses on cooking and recipes, with each recipe including the ingredients and step-by-step preparation instructions.
Breakfast: Pancakes with honey, red berries, and blackberries, and a second dish of French toast with scrambled eggs, cheese, and avocado.
Lunch: Cheeseburger sliders served with French fries and cheese sauce.
Dinner: Noodles with beef and vegetables.
Dessert: Strawberry cheesecake.
Beverages: Strawberry and blueberry mojito.
In the design, I used multi-column layouts, automatic page numbering, parent pages for consistent formatting, and character styles for text formatting.
This project highlights my skills in page layout design using InDesign and my ability to organize content clearly and attractively.
This exercise was completed as part of an in-class activity to help me practice and understand the basic tools and features of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. The task was to recreate (copy) an existing telecom company poster exactly as it is, without any changes to the design, in order to learn how to use the tools effectively.
By replicating the original poster, I developed my skills in working with design elements such as layout, typography, colors, alignment, and image handling. This exercise gave me practical experience using professional design software as part of my university coursework.
